Jennifer Fernandez, a woman from Carpentersville, Illinois, has been identified as the wrong-way driver on I-90 who killed Lauren Dobosz, a mother from Rolling Meadows, and her four children. In all, seven people were killed.

Update: Thomas Dobosz, the only person who survived the crash on Sunday morning and was married to Lauren Dobosz and the father of her four children who died in the crash, died of his injuries on Wednesday morning.

A wrong-way driver hit a van on an Illinois interstate early Sunday morning, killing seven people, including a mother and her four children.

Around 2:11 a.m., a fiery crash happened on Interstate 90 in Hampshire, McHenry County, about 50 miles from Chicago.

Jennifer Fernandez, 22, of Carpentersville, Illinois, was driving the wrong way on I-90 for “unknown reasons” when she crashed into Thomas Dobosz, 32, of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, who was driving a Chevrolet van. Both cars caught fire when they hit.

State troopers said that Fernandez and everyone else in Dobosz’s van, including his wife and four children, were found dead at the scene.

The crash killed Lauren Dobosz, who was 31 and from Rolling Meadows. It also killed five children, four of whom were hers. From 5 to 13 years old, the kids were all present. WLS-TV says that the fifth child who died was a friend of one of the oldest daughters who was in the car with the family at the time of the crash.
